  • Why is part of the fee allocated to NEURO?
NEURO is the charity that governs the accreditation framework, trains assessors, and maintains its independence. The fixed £995 fee funds this impartial oversight and public-good responsibilities like training, research, and advocacy.
  • Why is the NEURO fee fixed?
A fixed contribution ensures transparency and trust, no matter the organisation's size. It reflects a sustainable cost-recovery model.
  • Who delivers the assessment?
Assessments are conducted by licensed Commercial Delivery Partners (CDPs) — trained consultancies overseen by NEURO to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Can NEURO assess us directly?
No. NEURO does not assess organisations directly to protect the impartiality of the process.
  • Are discounts available?
Yes. Reduced fees are available for pilot organisations, nonprofits, and public sector bodies. We’re also developing a philanthropic fund to widen access.
  • Can we become reaccredited later?
Yes. Accreditation lasts three years. Reaccreditation is available at 75% of the original fee, assuming continued performance.
  • How long does accreditation last?
Accreditation is valid for three years. To maintain it, a full reassessment is required. A short annual check-in keeps your progress visible between full assessments.
  • Can we move up a tier before three years?
Yes. Organisations demonstrating significant progress can request a Mid-Cycle Tier Reassessment at any time.
  • Can multiple sites or departments be assessed separately?
Yes. Larger or complex organisations can request assessments by site, unit, or geography to ensure relevance and rigour.
  • What happens if we don’t meet the standard?
You’ll receive constructive feedback, and your CDP will work with you to build any tools, processes, or changes needed. NEURO is here to support your growth — not to gatekeep progress.
  • How subjective is the scoring?
Our structured scoring matrix is based on clear criteria and evidence. Safeguards include: Assessor training and calibration Internal moderation Defined rubric for each domain Audit checks Organisations may also request feedback clarification.
  • How long do we have to wait to try again?
There’s no required wait. We recommend a minimum of 3 months to show meaningful progress, depending on the feedback. Our team can support you with development planning.
  • Is this a self-assessment?
No. All NEURO accreditations are externally assessed by licensed professionals. This ensures consistency, integrity, and credibility
  • How long does the process take?
The timeframe can vary depending on your organisation’s size and the assigned Client Delivery Partner (CDP), but we’ll work closely with you to ensure the process is efficient, straightforward, and as smooth as possible.
  • Will this require a lot of time or documentation?
We aim for a light-touch, high-impact approach. You’ll receive a checklist, and your assessor will help streamline the process.
  • What if our organisation isn’t ready?
That’s exactly what the framework is for. Our process is developmental and non-punitive. You’ll receive feedback and a roadmap, whatever your starting point. We can also pair you with a partner to help build a bespoke toolkit.
  • Who in our organisation should be involved?
We recommend involving: Senior leadership or executive sponsors HR or People teams DEI leads L&D representatives Facilities/workplace environment managers Neurodiversity champions or ERGs A cross-functional team ensures a well-rounded assessment and supports lasting change.
